Training with Randy Dunnett

Randy Dunnett is a highly recognized professional baseball coach and trainer out of the great city of Chicago, Illinois.  His entire life has revolved around the sport of baseball. Naturally, he is a fan of the sport of the professional level and has been since he was a young child.  He was also once a professional baseball player that played for a number of years in the minor leagues.

He found his calling at the tail end of his original playing career when he started coaching and working with emerging talent.  With the knack to work with students becoming clear, he knew early on that this was his future.

He has gone on to be a great coach in every regard, with a seasoned knowledge of the sport that comes from a variety of angles and years of experience. That experience has enabled him to create spectacular training programs at his training facility, Finish Strong Indoor Sportsplex which he founded in 2004.

Training, studying, coaching, repeat – that’s the cycle that he applies each and every day with the people that he trains.  He drives the fire in each student with excellence in the foundation of his program, from the skills, the fundamentals and onward to the finer points of the game.

Each student is given the tools, environment and coaching they need to achieve the goals they are after. Randy Dunnett focuses on the importance of highly refined training in his programs, isolating the things that need improvement the most yet maintaining the integrity of what each student does well through hard work, repetition and fundamental skills.

Not only has he been deeply involved with the game of baseball his whole life, Dunnett continues to participate in the sport by coaching teams and youth from across the greater Chicago area. His personal playing career was in the role of a pitcher.

As a right-handed pitcher, he dominated with a consistently remarkable ERA and win record, and he shares that information about those experiences with his numerous students.A lot of being a great pitcher comes down to mechanics, the finer things about a pitcher’s game that makes a pitch consistent, controlled and everything it can be for a baseball team.

Randy Dunnett on Coaching the Game

Randy Dunnett has been a coach in the game of baseball for many years.  He is always looking to help young players improve their skills and game.  It is a passion that is rooted in his own playing career as a professional baseball player and as a student graduate of Belmont University.

Dunnett recognized early that he had he had the opportunity to reach out to youth and have a positive impact in their lives.  He started coaching at Jack Perconte Sports, his first coaching stint which actually happened when he was still playing the game himself.

He worked there for about five years before opening the Finish Strong Indoor Sportsplex. That experience gave him a bunch of great knowledge and skill, while giving him the much needed vision he had for the future.  He moved on to the Windy City Thunderbolts, where Randy Dunnett was a pitching coach and boosted the performances of the team’s pitcher and catcher.

Randy Dunnett has devoted his entire life to the sport of baseball, and using that passion as a way to better the world through coaching and offering opportunities for young people to train in a state of the art facility. Throughout his career he had always found ways to use baseball as a medium for inspiring others. He has been a huge role model to inner-city Chicago youth and has used his athletic prowess to boot the common good. Below, he shares his experiences and explains how one person can change the world just through pursuing the thing they love most.

Randy Dunnett’s obsession with baseball started from the bleachers, when he went to games with his family as a kid. One he was old and strong enough to swing a bat and catch a ball, it was hard to get the glove off his hands. He dreamt of becoming a pro one day, and it became true after years of playing in the collegiate arena. He signed with the Cook County Cheetahs in the Frontier League for two years, where he was a star player. And still at a relatively young age, he had gotten enough of a bite of hit dream to feel good about taking the next step.

Baseball Coach

As a baseball coach Randy Dunnett was given a more active role in influencing younger players. He connected with many of his players and started to feel god about taking on coaching as a full-time job. He saw the benefits of being able to contribute to the future of the sport through helping its future stars hone their talents. He started his coaching career with Jack Perconte Sports Academy, and then went on to become a pitching coach for the Windy City Thunderbolts. Now, he coaches teams for Force Elite Baseball Club.

The summation of Randy Dunnett’s career can be best explained through the tremendous success of Finish Strong Indoor Sportsplex. He started the business in 2004 and it took off as a community hub for soccer and baseball training. Neighborhood kids take advantage of the large and well-maintained facility, and Randy Dunnett embraces the opportunity to be a positive influence on their lives while sharing his favorite sport with them.
